Roboré Township is located at the East end of the Chiquitos province, 400 km from Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The municipal boundaries are to the North of the municipality of San Matías and San José de Chiquitos, the South of the municipality of Charagua, East to the town of Puerto Suarez and the West by the municipality of San José de Chiquitos.


The municipality of Roboré originates in the twentieth century as a military outpost and then pooled as a major railway node.The city has a mission Centre, the community of Santiago de Chiquitos, minus the Jesuits founded the year 1754.


According to the 2001 census, the total population 15 240 inhabitants Roboré. 65% of the population lives in the city of the Church and the remaining 35% live in rural areas.


The population has grown due to different flows from different parts of the country and abroad (mainly Brazil). the population is in principle Roboré originating in the region (Chiquitano and Ayoreode), as well as Quechua and Aymara immigrants.


Roboré is abundant water sources, rivers, permanent and seasonal streams, which is a central part of their tourism. Despite this, the availability of water is not homogeneous in their geographical distribution and temporal and during certain times of the year, there are water shortages in some areas of the municipality.


Roboré has different types of tourist services such as recreation and entertainment, ethnic, cultural, ethnic, religious, nature, environment, Jesuit missionary, recreation, environmental, florists and endemic species.
